This story takes place on a planet like earth, but is not about the whole planet, just a continent, and the surrounding area]
Background of the story:
Æræn - [ Species - High Elves ]
Æræn is the first kingdom of the High Elves, the first race. They are the guardians of most of the world, but will be absent for a while.
Æther - [Realm] - [ Species - The Other (also known as the First Dark Ones) ]
The Æther is the place of darkness. That is where the most evil power resides, and where the ones known as the Other or as the First Dark Ones.
Elrion - [Kingdom] - [ Species - Elves, Humans, Gods, Dwarfs, DarkWolf, Dragons ]
Elrion is the land of elves and humans. Ruled by both Elves and Humans. There ar different empires and kingdoms within Elrion. Gods used to reside in Elrion (Still do, but have not been seen sense the great battle of darkness). The dragons left, but some stayed and went into hiding.
The DarkWolves are giant sized wolves, of which their are two types.
- Wolf Lords - Bigger, stronger, and live longer. More difficult to kill.
- Main, DarkWolf - Bigger than a normal wolf, and more vicious. Can pass in the darkness/shadows without being noticed.
Dwarfs lived alongside the men and elves, and gods (at one point), but left after the War of the Three Kings.
- Algaria [ The Main Land (Like a continent today) ]
The Story:
Many years ago, the High Elves came to this land (Algaria) from across the Great Sea. The Elves were the only inhabitants, aside for animals and such. There were no humans, or any other intelligent race. Many Elvish Kingdoms were born, and many fell over time. The reign of the Elves over the land was a peaceful one.
The land Algaria was a beautiful land, filled with animals such as deer and boars, and great birds like the Giant Eagle, and the occasional Phoenix. There were clear lakes and always flowing springs and rivers. It was warm all the time except in the far north, and felt like an endless summertime. There were great mountain ranges and vast open plains filled with beautiful flowers and plants, and small creatures, like foxes and wild horses. The land was beautiful and perfect.
To the East of the land was the Great Sea, the sea that the elves had come from. The most ancient and powerful races came from across the Great Sea, and yet their reason for coming over was never known. To the south of Algaria was another Country separated by a Mountain Range. Humans and Dwarves lived across that sea, in the Kingdom Elron.
The Elves are a magical race. They can use magic, and control it with grace and beauty, yet with power and strength. Over time it seemed as if some of the elves were more focused on the power, and potential of what they could do. The Elves had noticed a change in their peace and harmony with magic. There were some conflicts that were dealt with by the High Council of elves, the 5 most powerful and wise elves of the time. Yet, during the height of the Elves' reign, but before the coming of the other races, an elf by the name of Lord Arendær turned completely to the dark side of magic, and became known as the first Dark One.
Lord Arendær was part of the High Council of elves. He was so consumed by his greed for power and dark side, that he attacked the High Council with some of his loyal followers known to others as the Hand of the Dark One. Although he succeeded in killing an elf, Lord Elrondar, the other elves infused two swords, Æsther and Œren to destroy Lord Arendær and destroy his magic.
The High Coucils remaining elves did not succeed when destroying Lord Arendær. He gave himself up completely to darkness and in doing so created another realm of pulsing dark energy. This new realm is known now as the Æther. Arendær's loyal followers, the Hand of the Dark One, were submitted to the energy and became the First Dark Ones. It was said and rumored that Lord Arendær would one day return to send the realm of the elves into an eternal darkness, but more than a 100 years went by with no major disturbance of the peace. Over time the swords Æsther and Œren, became known as Fire and Ice, due to their magical powers.
About a Millenia after the end of Lord Arendær, humans crossed the mountain range to the south, and arrived in Æræn. They were not easily accepted by the elves, as they did not possess their own magic, and had a short lifestyle. But after years of no disturbance and of harmony, an alliance was formed between the elves and the humans. The land became known as Elrion, and contained two kingdoms, Æræn, and Elron.
When the elves mated with the humans, the first offspring were mostly elves as they would posses magic, yet they were shorter, less elvish, and lived shorter than their elvish parents. They became known as elves, and their parents, the High Elves. Some of the offspring of the High Elves and humans were human in most aspects. They lived longer than normal (150 years average) but were mostly human. Except they were able to use magic. They were more accepted by the elvish races, yet was the reason for magic to run in human blood.
Years of peace and growth continued, and the swords Ice and Fire became a complete myth. They were deemed lost, and were soon forgotten. During that time another race entered the land now known as Elrion. They were the Gods. They were older and wiser than the High Elves and more powerful. Yet when they arrived, there was a disturbance within the High Council as to the acceptance of the Ancients. It was resolved that some of the High Elves would stay, but most would move south to Elron past the mountains and go back to their own way of life during the Kingdom of Æræn.
The Gods and the rest of the races got along just fine. The gods were peaceful and took it upon themselves to watch over the land and ensure peace. Over time, the gods felt a disturbance within the realm. When Dark Ones started to appear in the realm, and caused chaos and a darkness or fall over the realm, the Gods went south to summon the help of the High Elves. Then a great battle enveloped the land. During the war of Darkness, dragons came over from their land. They lived peacefully among the elves and men. They helped them in the War. The Lords and Council members would ride the dragons and fight the Dark Ones. However after a while the Council decided that a group should be created that was not specifically loyal to any race or kingdom, that would keep the peace and help fight against the Darkness. They became known as the DragonLords.
The Gods returned with a group of High Elves, and along with the DragonLords proceeded to attack the Darkness troops directly. A great battle ensued that raged for months. It seemed as if neither side could gain an advantage over the other. The Dark Ones had grown powerful in their realm and could now summon creatures. They created the DarkWolves, and used them against the gods. Although the armies of Elrion eventually banished the Dark Ones for a second time, the gods were affected. Some of them had turned dark, and had joined the Dark Ones, and the rest of the gods were sorely weakened. The Gods that had helped for so long, left the land. Where they went, no one knew. Yet, it was written that someday the Gods would return to hell when the land needed them most.
Soon after the Dragons came into Elrion, the dwarves emerged from the mountains and created their own kingdom within Elrion. They tended to keep away from the rest of the kingdoms, although they were peaceful. They did have some hardships with the dragons and elves, but got along with humans just fine. The Dwarves were great architects. They built massive structures within their mountains and forged great weapons.
When the Dark Ones were banished, most of the DarkWolves went with them. Some however stayed and were loyal to the kingdoms of Elrion. They had their own territory, yet when called upon against dangers, they would help the Armies. Yet after years of living alone, they started to turn evil again and faint the great Army. They won many battles, but lost most of their race at the battle of the Keep. After that, Dark Wolves lost their dark powers, and were known as the North Wolves. They went into hiding and disappeared.
It has been centuries sense the disappearance of Elves and Gods, and the like. Magic has not been seen for many years. Dragons are now seen as a myth along with Dwarves, and the return of the Dark Ones are now stories told to children by their wet nurses. There is peace within the land, now just ruled by humans. Their are Two Kingdoms, Elron, and Thrasa.
This story is about the return and truth of the old myths and of the Swords of Elrion.
